Program Abstracts Registration
Dear colleagues and friends,
On behalf of the Organising committee and the Australian Chapter of the International Association of Hydrogeologists it is my great pleasure to invite you to Perth, Western Australia from the 15th to 20th September 2013 to participate in the 40th IAH International Congress.
The congress will be held at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre on the Perth foreshore next to the Swan River. We have chosen as our Congress theme, “Solving the Groundwater Challenges of the 21st Century” recognising that groundwater resource use, management and protection will become ever more important in how populations succeed as custodians of this valuable planetary resource during the course of this century.
There are many different ways in which you can become involved in the conference.
As a delegate to the Congress you will have access to an exciting technical programme. Papers will be presented covering groundwater issues in the areas of governance, values and management, mining, climate change, research and technology solutions and example case studies we can learn from, including failures. We also plan a session dedicated to young and early career hydrogeologists to foster the next generation of groundwater professionals.
Presenters at the Congress have the opportunity to show case their research or work results in a premier international and Australian hydrogeological forum, to audiences comprising the best and brightest of the world’s hydrogeologists. A process will be in place to enable publication of selected Congress papers in the IAH’s Hydrogeology Journal.
In addition to the technical programme, there will be pre and post technical workshops and courses available to learn and develop new skills from expert presenters in various groundwater fields. Pre and post conference tours will visit some of the unique groundwater technologies and field areas that are on offer in Australia. Spring time in Perth begins in September, and with that comes a magnificent display of some of the worlds most renowned and rare wildflowers near to Perth, just one tour opportunity proposed for the accompanying partners program.
By joining us as a Sponsor you will have opportunity to tailor a package that optimally promotes your organisation to our delegates. Exhibitors at the IAH International 40th Congress will have a rare opportunity to showcase their products and services to Conference delegates from Australia and around the world.
The IAH International 40th Congress brings together a mix of international and Australian delegates from industry, government, research and education with interests in development of groundwater science and technology across a broad range of disciplines. Above all the Congress will be a great opportunity to meet, greet and talk groundwater with new and old colleagues from Australia and around the world.
Whichever way you chose to register for the IAH International 40th Congress, I, on behalf of the Organising Committee and Australian Chapter of the International Association of Hydrogeologists, welcome you to Perth, 2013, to join us in our quest to ”Solve the Groundwater Challenges of the 21st Century”.
I look forward to seeing you in Perth.
Dr Jeffrey Turner
Chair, Congress Organising Committee.
